XAVIER CALDERA

Who am I?

Hi, it’s me — Xavier.
Yep, the same guy you’re probably looking at on stage right now as you read this.
(And yes… that guy up there? His legs are definitely shaking. lol)

Now, I know what you’re thinking ... “How does someone with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering end up in junk removal?”
Trust me… I ask myself the same thing sometimes. 😂

I wasn’t really looking for the junk removal industry ... it somehow found me.

And honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I’m a Christian, a dad of two amazing girls, a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, and a proud junk removal enthusiast — a combination that even I didn’t see coming.

Back in 2014, I escaped Venezuela after being kidnapped and arrived in the U.S. with just $200 to my name, a pregnant wife, and a suitcase full of dreams.

We were literally sleeping on the floor, starting from absolutely nothing — but with faith, hard work, and purpose, we built a new life, one step at a time.

My Journey

2014

In 2014, I arrived in the United States with my pregnant wife and literally $200 to my name — after escaping Venezuela, where I had been kidnapped by the Venezuelan regime for 6 months.

My first year here, I worked on construction projects, doing whatever it took to provide for my family and start a new life.

2015

In 2015, I started at the very bottom — working as a wingman (helper) at College Hunks Hauling Junk after being turned down because of my English and immigration status.

By day, I hauled junk; by night, I parked cars at an after-hours club. I’d leave valet at 5 a.m. and start my next shift at 6:30 a.m. — I’m not exaggerating when I say I slept maybe 32 hours a week. Four nights of rest… and the rest spent working.

I was earning $4 an hour hauling junk, even though the minimum wage in Texas was $7.25. My employer called it a “special circumstance.” I didn’t complain — I was just grateful for the chance.

Five months later, I was promoted to Truck Captain — even though I didn’t even have a driver’s license yet. They assigned me a driver while I led the crew, and I could barely communicate in English. I carried pages full of handwritten sales scripts, doing my best to lead with what little I had — and a lot of heart.

2016

By 2016, I was honored to receive the College Hunk of the Year award — chosen from over 2,500 team members nationwide.

I still remember standing on that stage, trembling with my piece of paper, giving my speech in broken English in front of 1,200 people.

For reference, those two guys in the picture with me are Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman, the founders and CEOs of College Hunks Hauling Junk — I thought it was a pretty cool moment to share.

Soon after, I was promoted to Operations Manager when my manager and mentor, Ron, left for another opportunity.

Months later, the calls stopped coming in — not just at our location, but across every Houston franchise. The Google Ads campaigns had completely crashed, and I was told that if things didn’t turn around soon, I’d have to step down.

Instead of quitting, I stayed up late studying Google Ads. After weeks of digging, I found the real issue, proposed a fix to brand central marketing vendor, and watched the results turn around. That moment sparked my passion for marketing — and the journey that would later change my life.

2017-2018

In 2017, I was promoted to General Manager at the same location, now under new ownership. Shortly after, Brand Central invited me to join their team as a Ramp-Up Coach for the East Coast, helping new franchise owners launch and scale their operations.

At the time, my baby was still very young, and I was constantly traveling. As much as I loved the work, being away from home started to take a toll. After a few months, I made the difficult decision to step down and return home.

When I came back, my old position had already been filled, so I applied at 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and was hired as an Assistant Manager. I only stayed for a few months — but that short experience would soon open the door to my next chapter.

2018-2021

Later that year, in 2018, we launched Weebble Junk Removal & Hauling. What started as a small idea quickly grew into three thriving franchise locations across three cities in Texas. I brought the knowledge; my partners brought the capital.

Together, we built a well-oiled sales machine — powered by automations, a call center, and a full team of virtual assistants.

Over the next three years, our locations generated more than $3.8 million in revenue. I served as CEO — leading operations, managing marketing, and personally building and optimizing all of our Google Ads campaigns.

But as the company grew, so did the pressure — and most of it landed on me. I was the only one truly rowing the ship while others just watched it move. Eventually, I burned out.

Big lesson: choose your business partners wisely. Set clear expectations. Make sure the people beside you are rowing with you — not just along for the ride.

I missed moments with my family that I’ll never get back. But those years were priceless — they taught me everything I know about conversion rate optimization, marketing, systems, automation, and how to build a franchise from the ground up.

More than anything, they taught me what it truly takes to build something that lasts.

2021-2023

For your reference — the person in the photo is Brian Scudamore, founder of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?

That was actually the first time I met him (via Zoom) when they onboarded me as a marketing vendor — I thought it was a pretty cool moment to share.

Back in mid-2021, I was just starting to pivot into marketing for home-service businesses — HVAC, roofing, remodeling, and junk removal — while driving Uber and DoorDash at night to feed my family.

By early 2022, that little side hustle turned into JUNK-IFY.COM, a marketing agency focused on the waste management industry (Junk Removal, Demolition, Dumpster Rental & Porta Potty Rental).

In 2023, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? brought us on as an official marketing provider within their CRO department — a partnership that runs through January 2026.

That same year, we launched our JUNK-IFY.COM affiliate network, which now generates 6,000+ pre-qualified inbound calls every month (not cold leads!) and partners with four national brands in dumpster and porta-potty rentals.

2024

At Junk Expo 2024, I had the honor of being invited as a guest speaker and publishing two books for the junk removal community, both now available on Amazon:

As most of you guys probably don’t know, I actually hold a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. I only worked in the industry for about two years before I had to forcefully migrate to the U.S., leaving everything behind. At that point, I felt like I owed it to myself to rebuild my life and chase something bigger.

📗 And on a completely different note ... something I’m also incredibly proud of — I published a book for the chemical engineering community titled Bioprocesses in Science and Technology: Red Wine Made from Tempranillo Grapes Using Agro-Industrial Bioprocesses with Innovative Technology (click the link), which has been translated into six languages and is also available on Amazon.

NOW: 2025

In 2025, our main focus is building the foundation to expand our affiliate network into junk removal services by 2026 — once our contract with 1-800-GOT-JUNK? wraps up, avoiding any conflict of interest.

We’re already in active talks with a well-known nationwide junk removal brand to kick off this next phase and plan to partner with major companies operating statewide and nationwide. The next step will be partnering with local junk removal businesses — because my mission is simple:
to outperform the big players in the space like Angi, CheckSammy, LoadUp, and others who take advantage of junk haulers by selling cold, low-intent, shared leads.

That’s not how we do things.

At JUNK-IFY.COM, we generate exclusive, pre-qualified inbound phone calls from real customers actively looking for services. Our partners only pay when they get real results... not for dead-end leads they can’t even reach.

Right now, we’re averaging around $120,000 in monthly ad spend, all funded with our own money, to generate dumpster rental and porta potty rental calls nationwide — and we’ll soon be expanding our reach into Canada as well..
